Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Read, speak and understand English fluently
  • Be physically able to perform the duties of a firefighter as a member of the Horizon Fire Dept.

Additional Consideration given for:

  • Certification as a Basic Structural Fire Protection Personnel by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or eligible to obtain your certification
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) by the Texas Department of State Health Services, or Certified as a Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • A National Registry Certification for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic

  • Physical within 1 year of date of application
  • Current Immunization Record
    • MMR  x 2 OR positive quantitative titer
    • Varicella x 2 OR positive quantitative titer
    • Hepatitis B x 3 OR quantitative titer
    • TdaP x 1 then Td booster every 10 years
    • Hepatitis A x 2 OR positive quantitative titer (all SAR members)
    • Meningococcal x 1 (all Paramedics)
    • Current Influenza
    • COVID (optional)

  • Proof of Certifications
